Going into Richmond, Virginia I didn’t know what to think. First arriving there I was like, what the hell is going on, where are we, who is this Shane guy, he’s crazy, he’s loud, he was sweaty.

Of course I was taken back as time went on. I got to understand that Shane from Art Whino is as dedicated to this art movement as much as any curator in a top position.

He’s down for his artists. Everyone gets what they need. Shane makes it happen.

I had a great stay. I hope my art stands the test of time and I hope to be invited back some time in the future.

This mural entitled “Gateway” is located on Melrose Ave and LaBrea in Hollywood, California. Inspired by our recent trip to Tokyo, Japan. For the opening of  our friend Ryu’s new restaurant Tatsu.

Ryu, Tokyo native, has established a tonkotsu ramen restaurant with the authenticity of those you find on the Tokyo streets.

Top Japanese chefs and in house noodle production. The interior featuring imported angular wooden ceilings.  Everything handcrafted from scratch.

Stop in for the opening of Tatsu Ramen at the end of this month. No detail was spared.

We were recently invited to spend three days in the Santa Barbara mountains to work with the 48 boys from Los Prietos Boy’s Camp, Juvenile Detention Facility. For those who don’t know, Los Prietos is basically one step beyond juvenile Hall, Its a bootcamp academy. An amazing group of boys.

Thank you to Freedom4Youth and the Santa Barbara Probation Department for providing the opportunity to work one on one with the children enrolled at this academy. Thank you, Billi Jo Starr and Meghann Newell of Freedom4Youth for facilitating this interior transformation and making this installation possible. I now understand the commitment some people feel to want to just put a hand out and try to change a life.

The new mural titled “Plant The Seed” stands on the front wall of the gymnasium at the Los Prietos Boys’ Camp in Santa Barbara, CA. While the remaining walls received fresh coats of paint in sky blue and grey.

Freedom4Youth serves youth in the juveniel justice system by creating opportunities for self-realization, transformational leadership, personal narrative and community integration as they exit confinement and return to their family, school, and society.
