We were recently invited to spend three days in the Santa Barbara mountains to work with the 48 boys from Los Prietos Boy’s Camp, Juvenile Detention Facility. For those who don’t know, Los Prietos is basically one step beyond juvenile Hall, Its a bootcamp academy. An amazing group of boys.

Thank you to Freedom4Youth and the Santa Barbara Probation Department for providing the opportunity to work one on one with the children enrolled at this academy. Thank you, Billi Jo Starr and Meghann Newell of Freedom4Youth for facilitating this interior transformation and making this installation possible. I now understand the commitment some people feel to want to just put a hand out and try to change a life.

The new mural titled “Plant The Seed” stands on the front wall of the gymnasium at the Los Prietos Boys’ Camp in Santa Barbara, CA. While the remaining walls received fresh coats of paint in sky blue and grey.

Freedom4Youth serves youth in the juveniel justice system by creating opportunities for self-realization, transformational leadership, personal narrative and community integration as they exit confinement and return to their family, school, and society.
