Korean Figure Artist Serang Kim
During Art Toy Culture in Seoul, South Korea I found the works of Serang Kim. A truly talented miniature and 1/6 scale figure artist. The details on Serang’s figures are mind blowing. These are photos of a select few he showcased at Art Toy Culture in Seoul, South Korea. For more figures and details check out his website.

ART TOY CULTURE, SEOUL
I was asked to give a lecture on my work. Above are a few of the slides I included in my presentation. During my time I spoke about my start as an artist and included projects from my early career. I covered the process of toy production, from creative inception through production and packaging. I shared a few projects that I have found to be my personal favorites. Murals have been my main focus for the past two years so naturally I included photos of progress shots, finished installations and handful of videos. I kept my talking relatively short and let my work speak for it’s self.
Thank you to my interpreter Seongeun of D.nomade Design Network.

ART TOY CULTURE. DONGDAEMUN DESIGN PLAZA. SEOUL, SOUTH KOREA 2014
I have received the pleasure this year of being invited out to Seoul, South Korea for the first Art Toy Culture held at the newly constructed Dongdaemun Design Plaza also called the DDP.
DDP is a major urban development landmark in Seoul, South Korea designed by Zaha Hadid, with a distinctively neofuturistic design. This new landmark is the centerpiece of South Korea’s fashion hub. Dongdaemun, features a walkable park on its roofs, large global exhibition spaces, retail stores and restored parts of the Seoul fortress.
The DDP has been one of the main reasons for Seoul’s designation as World Design Capital in 2010. Construction started in 2009 and it was officially inaugurated on March 21, 2014. It is physically connected to Seoul Subway via Dongdaemun History & Culture Park Station on Line 2, 4 and 5.
