You’ve seen the David Flores mural of Phil Stern’s iconic James Dean portrait in down town Los Angeles. Well, earlier this month we sent 92 year old Phil Stern up in a sketchy scissor lift to sign his name with spray paint on the mural himself! There was a great turn out of supportive fans and family alike.

WHO: Legendary photographer, Phil Stern and one of the world’s top muralists, David Flores.
Often recognized for his memorable photographs of Marilyn Monroe, James Dean, Frank Sinatra, JFK, Marlon Brando, John Wayne, and many more, 92 year old Stern is collaborating with Flores, an urban artist who launched his career as an illustrator in the Skateboard industry and later made an even bigger name for himself designing limited edition toys, clothing and paintings of Andy Warhol and Sofia Loren to Mother Theresa and Neil Armstrong, to name a few.

VISUAL: Get a ringside seat as 92 year old Phil Stern is sent up in a lift, spray paint in hand, to endorse Flores’ mural of James Dean, that was inspired by a 50+ year old photo taken by Stern.

WHAT: David Flores has brought Phil Stern’s mesmerizing 1955 image of James Dean to the 21st Century, as only he can do – the celebration of a classic icon captured in a modern way. Unless the mural ordinance is passed, this piece of art is in constant threat of removal, and is not to be missed. The Phil Stern Gallery and Downtown Los Angeles Art Walk invite you to show your support for street art at the upcoming November 10th Art Walk.
